YURIET CASARREAL: I have many patients sitting on my chair complaining about their bleeding gums and bad taste. After doing a periodontal examination I have found out that the reason why they have this bleeding gums and bad breath is because they have periodontal disease.
Periodontal disease is an infection that affects the tissue and the bone around your teeth. Plaque is the first thing to appear. When plaque is not removed on a daily basis at your home, this soft plaque hardens and becomes hard deposits. When these hard deposits are not removed by a dental professional such as hygienists, this bacteria starts traveling done the bone is when bone starts being destroyed teeth start getting lost.
